In the last decade, researchers have documented population declines in wild and managed bee species. Risk factors threatening bees include habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation due to urbanization and agricultural intensification.
In the Jamieson lab, we are investigating bee communities in agroecosystems in urban, suburban, and rural areas. We are currently wrapping up research examining the influence of agricultural intensification on bee communities in Colorado grassland habitats. And, recently, we’ve begun research examining bee communities inhabiting urban and suburban farms and gardens in Michigan (Wayne and Oakland Counties).
